We had a five hour layover in Vienna, and were definitely ready to get on the move again. Luckily we didn’t have to leave Concourse G because Croatia is a non-Schengen country (and where most Austrian Airlines non-Schengen, if not all of them, depart). We were ready to arrive in Dubrovnik as soon as possible, but at least the flight would not be thaaat long.

There were plenty of Austrian Airlines planes parked at the jetbridges.

We boarded around noon, which was on time.

The first impressions of the cabin was that just like on my last flight, it was completely spotless. Even though it was 22 years old, it looked brand new! There were a number of seatback objects as well. Unlike on the 767, this plane had WiFi.

There was Austrian Airlines’ inflight magazine (called “Skylines”), a duty free magazine, an airsickness bag. There were overhead screens as well.

No personal inflight entertainment aboard, but as soon as I saw this, I knew I was set for the flight! 😃

Just like on the last flight, the seat pitch of 30 inches and the 17.5-inch seat width might be a bit tight for some, but especially with the type of seat it was, it was fine for me.

As we taxied to the runway, we saw some interesting traffic, including an Austrian retro livery A320 and an Emirates A380. Emirates just recently started flying the A380 to Vienna.

Soon enough, we were lining up at the gate and (if I remember correctly) were cleared for an immediate takeoff. I noticed a Kuwait Airlines plane on takeoff.

Shortly after takeoff, we were offered pretzels (the same Soletti ones as on the previous flight) and (possibly?) a drink.

After some rest, we started descending into Dubrovnik. Man, these intra-European flights are too short! At least the views on the Mediterranean coast were beautiful.

We touched down on Runway 12 on time.

Even though Dubrovnik has jetbridges, we parked at a bus gate. I actually like bus gates at these tropical airports because of the fresh warmth.

I also noticed an S7 Airlines 737 at a jetbridge. After arriving at the terminal, we went through a long line at immigration (Croatia is not part of the Schengen agreement and got our bags). The airport seemed very pleasant (at least compared to Split, which you will see in the next review) and the views of central Dubrovnik and the coast from the mountains during the 30-minute drive were gorgeous.

Overall, even though the plane had no personal inflight entertainment, that is normal for a short flight, especially in Europe. The seat pitch of 30 inches could be a bit tight if you are a taller person, but it is manageable on such a short intra-European flight. There were overhead screens, which is more than some other airlines offer. The flight left on time, the plane was nice, and the crew was great. There is not much more I could ask for on a 1-hour flight, so just like on their long-haul flights, I definitely recommend Austrian.
