This has really not been a great year for aviation safety. Last year, there was not a single fatality from a commercial airline crash. This year, however, there has already been three or four fatal incidents, and it is only May!
According to onemileatatime, at 12:30 PM today, the Global Air 737-200 operating for Cubana crashed after takeoff. The registration code of the aircraft was XA-UMQ. According to CNN, over 100 people died in the incident.
There is not many details of the incident yet, but it can be followed online extremely easily given all of the headlines it is making.
My thoughts are with the victims and their families. What a horrible thing to experience.
